For a long time, booking a Smooth Cars car meant sending a WhatsApp message. It was quick, it felt personal, and it was the wrong way to run a private hire operation.
A chat message has no price attached. It has no reference. If two people message at the same time asking for the same car at the same hour, nothing stops both being told yes. And when a journey goes wrong - the car did not come, the price was not what was agreed - there is nothing to check except two people's memory of a conversation.
What a booking is now
Every journey now gets priced before you agree to it, stored with a reference of the form SC-2026-000123, confirmed to you by email and text, with the vehicle details before pickup. The price on your confirmation is the price in our system - the same record, not two versions of it.
You can still message us. But the message now creates a proper booking at the other end, and you get the confirmation to prove it.
